Variable ID: 0x41CB

Variable Label: Time Constant

Variable Help: Time Constant Shows the current time constant. The time constant is either calculated automatically (factory setting), or manually set to a fixed value. The time constant smoothes the output signal. Statistical fluctuations, as well as level fluctuations due to the process, e.g. by agitators, are smoothed. The value of the time constant corresponds approximately to the response time of the measurement. Depending on the setting in "Evaluation Mode", either the calculated time constant is displayed (AUTO SET) or a time can be entered in seconds (MANUAL SET). We recommend using the automatic calculation (AUTO SET), unless important reasons speak against it. For manual input please keep in mind: The time constant must be sufficiently large to avoid incorrect switching. At the same time, however, an increase in the time constant will delay the reaction of the measurement to a level exceedance; therefore, the time constant should not be selected too large. A time constant of 20 seconds is a good choice for standard applications and correct source detector configurations.
